Notes from Special
Meeting
June 20,
2001
Present: Kate Beck, Bill Locke, Dave Bowen, Todd Vandershoot,
Mark Bryan, Pam Smith
From minutes from last year – add to Policy:
Same coach can only stay with team for three years unless club petitions board to have coach remain with the team beyond the three year term.
Relating to having players from other cities on the team –
Carson Taylor had a policy suggestion. Dave Bowen presented a suggestion from Jack Dockery.
Dave Bowen made the suggestion that we wait for the state recommendation before we have a discussion – how do we know what to discuss? We need to know what is going to be voted on in Helena, then we will be able to discuss before Tim votes at the meeting in August. Dave will visit with Rick DeJana while they are in Albuquerque. He will get on the e-mail distribution list for updates. We also need to know the positions of the presidential candidates to be able to direct Tim for his vote.
There will have to be a second special meeting on this issue.
Discussion on who can select players – now states “…from the club’s coaching staff…”
Needs to be changed to possibly “club authorized coaching representative and/or director of coaches.
Discussion:
If there are at least 18 players in each age group U11-14, there will be no playing up allowed.
U15 and up open and should remain open
Recommended that we try this for one year.
There were no Uniform or
Grievance Concerns/Comments.
Club will not sponsor a summer program. The club will endorse a qualified program in the community. Club will collect applications for summer program and present for vote by March 1. Also publicize on WEB what is available, both locally and statewide.
Dave Bowen brought up incidents of parents being thrown off the fields for unacceptable behavior. These actions are not what we want to teach our kids – parents and players alike must be able to control their anger. We need a policy with some “meat” in it.
Possibilities – a fine schedule. Handle like a red card – leave game and then after review/appeal, if it stands, must miss another game. What about a board member? Board would make motion if actions were so bad that the member should be removed form the board.
Fees/Insurance – Discussion of players only playing at State – how to handle the fee. There should be a Fee Schedule. This would go under Budget.
Annual Membership
Meeting
Do not change the by-laws for meeting date.
Give notice of the Annual Meeting.
Sufficient notice will be notification of date on the WEB site.
Talk of having representation from players, coaches.
Ex-Officio positions are already there.
Ask an experienced coach to serve as ex-officio, non-voting, member. Can ask anyone – don’t have to change the by-laws.
