MSP
- Approve March 6 Minutes as amended. (4 For, 1 Abstained)Since our last meeting - Ric Plante’s team has been to major tournament in Phoenix - did extremely well. Also participated in friendly tournament in Salt Lake City and did extremely well.
Al Bagley’s team participated in a tournament in Cody, WY, and took second place.
Tim Guenzler’s U18 Boys did extremely well at the Nomads Showcase in San Diego - Won one, Lost one, Tied two.
The Montana 88G ODP won all their games and the 87 or 86 team won games in the ODP tournament in Walla Walla, WA. Much improvement over past years!
Helena has cancelled games for the last two weekends. Tim O. decided with the Bozeman coaches and with the other team coaches and presidents to reschedule the games in Bozeman this weekend. He still needs refs for the “non-scheduled” games. There have been many, many people working to get this all put together.
Ric Plante -
Ric gave Jeff Pearce a summer program outline to be reviewed.
He is waiting on contracts from two of his coaches. They will not be paid until he has the signed contract.
Treasurer’s Report - Jeff McGuire
Treasurer’s Report submitted as part of the record. Micro up over last year’s projections.
MSP - Accept treasurer’s report as submitted.
Manager Liaison
Web Site
40 hits per day for the web page for the first part of the season as compared to 30 per day last year.
Registrar’s Report
Policy
Referee Report - Franco Bancroft
New assigner, Franco Bancroft, introduced. Phone Number - 522-0060.
Referee’s report submitted as part of the record.
Fund Raising - Jeff Pearce
The deadline for the fund raiser needs to be extended a week or two. Some teams did not pick up the cards promptly. We are not getting the participation that we would have liked to have.
Do we need to state up front next year that fund raising is part of the package? Many people understand that fund raising is part of the package - many do not. Have it clearly stated so there will be no misunderstanding.
Bill Locke brought up web sponsorship. Need some committee to work on web page sponsors. It’s a good service and would get their name out. Someone has to sell it!
Sweet Pea
Jeff McGuire has the paperwork for Sweet Pea - August 2, 3, and 4. Is the club going to run the concessions booth?
Paperwork must be in by May 7. Tim O. asked Pam R. to get e-mail out to team managers to see if there is interest. Tim O. suggested that if the club does not want to run the concession booth, then give the teams the opportunity to take over and run with a portion of the income going back to the club.
Much discussion. Motion to decide is the club was going to run Sweet Pea was tabled. Jack Dockery and Jeff Pearce will look at their schedules. The vote on Sweet Pea will be via e-mail. If we do it, suggested that scholarship recipients should be required to help.
Facilities/Equipment/Uniforms - Jack Dockery
Jack needs people to help with the nets for Saturday. Jen Gummer will get that put together for him - 8 goals/3 people per goal.
Risk Management - Martie Stewart
Martie presented a rough draft of the Risk Management Policy - submitted as part of the record. Carson and Martie are trying to be very specific for coaches and parents. Marty requested any suggestions/comments be sent to her.
Discussion of holes on the fields. Tim O. will take sand to the MSU fields tomorrow.
Coaches must read and sign off on the Risk Management Policy. This also applies to Micro. Martie will contact Micro coaches.
Discussion of RM Policy. Concerns - Suggested that there should be legal review and advice. Does coach sign? Are you sued because of your policy?
Micro - Lisa Prugh
Lisa had said earlier in the year that she would like to increase Micro numbers by 100. She has done that - has 499 players now - first grade through seventh grade. Has received bids from Score and the Soccer Shop for uniforms. The bids are almost identical. Would like to order from the Soccer Shop - community relations!
Micro fees 500 x $60 = $30,000 - Less $1,500 for coaches discounts, $4,500 insurance, and referees, fields, porta potties, Lisa’s fee of $2,000, and uniforms - $14 per set - jersey/shorts/socks.
Jim Carter will be the assigner for Micro. How are refs to be paid? Lisa would like to just pay cash at the end of the game. How much are they paid - probably $10 per game.
Lisa has a set of full size goals that can be used in the fall for practice. She will need another smaller set of goals for her program. She has been borrowing a set. Lisa will contact Jack and let him know exactly how many goals she will need. Jack and Tim O; will deal with Marta.
Scholarship Report - Carol O’Neil
Five new applications have been submitted since the last board meeting - 2 competitive scholarship for a total of $360 and 3 Micro for $120. Total competitive scholarship requests - 4.
MSP - Motion to pay $580.00 for five new scholarship requests - two competitive and 3 Micro.
Bronken Fields - No Report
Competition Committee
An email will be sent to all coaches and all parents - All representatives of FC Bozeman - coaches and parents - will be dealt with for unacceptable actions. These must be handled.
As Board Members, if you see a problem - parent, coach, player - write it down and present it to the Competition committee.
New Business
Lisa has a whole team from Emigrant.
Tim O. - two things:
He has Franco Bancroft’s contract.
Montana Corporation Annual Report - Tim is hesitant to sign. Tim’s position ends December 31, 2002. Tim suggested that someone else should sign. It was decided that Phil Rotherham should sign as the Vice President.
